Dogale : manuscript, 1610.

A dogale issued by Leonardo Donato, doge of Venice from 1606 to 1612, to Pietro Simitecolus as governor ("comes et provisor Lesine, sive Pharae") of Lesina, also known in Serbian as Hvar, an island situated off the Dalmatian coast and ruled by Venice. Includes Simitecolus's commission and related legal documents of 1610, with appropriate endorsements, as well a collection of statutes (1476-1589) pertaining to the administration of Lesina, accompanied by an index of rubrics. Foliated 1-234, [235-40] (ruled but otherwise blank), and [241-273]; 19 long lines each. Written on parchment in dark-brown ink, with exception of gold ink used for the first five lines and part of the sixth line on fol. 1v. The edges of the text block are gilded.
